Our Governments and Courts have in recent years come to realise the benefits of Alternative Dispute Resolution over litigation through the courts.  The Australian Government established the National Alternative Dispute Resolution Advisory Council (NADRAC) - www.nadrac.gov.au - which has conducted a number of studies and provided reports to the Attorney General including:

The National Mediator Accreditation System is a national accreditation scheme which provides a minimum level of standards of training and assessment for mediators.  Accredited Mediators are required to comply with the Mediator Practice Standards.  www.msb.org.au/sites/default/files/documents/Practice%20Standards.pdf
